About the Goddess

Goddess Thyra [pronounced: TEE-rah] is, simply put, like a thunder. Both stormy and reckless, this feminine form of God Tyr similarly reigns over war and justice, while herself aiding the God of War, Thunder, and Power, Thor, in his every conquest.

Much like the thunder she embodies, Goddess Thyra is well known for her duality: she brings turmoil and chaos to the peaceful mind, or joy, purity, and sweet release to the tumultuous one. Her methods are varied, but surprisingly, her favorite has always remained the simple, magical means of writing. Given the unexpectedness and absurdity of such means from a goddess of thunder and war, much of her verses and words lie collecting dust in her honey-oak chambers in Thrudheim.

Writing appears to be one secret of many for Goddess Thyra. Commoners allege that she has donned masks and make-up to live another life on the stage, and sworn that the thunder in those plays was far too real to have been sound effects. Some believe that they have heard her singing along on records and on the radio, or humming merrily in every downpour, seemingly aching to truly open her heart and sing out loud.

Goddess Thyra’s signature souvenir, often left behind amidst the audiences during her hasty escapes, are miniature paintings on easels that are barely 6 inches wide. And we mustn’t forget, this deity of war secretly loves love. You can see it in the soft rumbles and rain she brings to romantic evenings and besotted lovers everywhere.

Although the goddess has found worthy partners to fight beside a few times in her life, she is yet to find one who can love the thunder, soft or loud, and her storms, impulsive and passionate. Until then, she continues to wage her wars while believing in love, and lives her secret duality until the day the two sides can become one.
